Happy Halloween astrology fans! I hope you are all enjoying the autumn season. Before I begin discussing the astrology of the week ahead, I wanted to share some insights into the astrology of Halloween, also known has Samhain (pronounced Sow-in). The ancient Celts, Neo-Pagans, and Wiccans celebrate the ancient feast of Samhain, which acknowledges that the veil between this world and the afterlife is thin enough for spirits to travel back and forth.
The ancients marked this period by the cross quarter between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice, which astrologically occurs at 15 degrees Scorpio. While many Celebrate both holidays October 31st and November 1st, others wait a few more days for the Sun to reach its perfect position, usually falling between November 5th-8th. This year it falls on the 7th. Modern theorists, like myself suggest that the veil becomes just thin enough on the 31st for spirits to begin stirring and reaches its climax a week later when the Sun hits the 15th degree.
There is certainly spooky energy in the heavens this week as we begin with the Sun making an opposition to Uranus on Monday. This restless and rebellious energy puts most of the world on edge. Everyone should be advised to exercise caution while operating electronics, driving, and other machinery right now.
The 31st marks the beginning of this year’s final Mercury retrograde. However, don’t let this transit spook you. The hype and endless memes on social media make it out to be a bigger boogie monster than it really is. In Scorpio, the urge to study information or details right now can become an unhealthy obsession. If you already have difficulty with self-control, this may be a particularly challenging period. On a positive note, this is an excellent time to have deep and meaningful conversations about personal issues, particularly with partners or licensed therapists.
On Friday, Venus moves into Sagittarius, where she moves from the intensity of Scorpio into the gentle flame of the mutable fire sign. As Venus changes signs, the collective nature of what we place value on shifts. Here, we can expect a renewed sense of love of freedom, exploration, and experiences life has to offer. The urge to learn, travel, and express one’s self honestly rules. We can expect those around us to become blunt, open-minded, and adventurous.
